WHY CHINA AND THE WEST NEED TO COLLABORATE

ISABEL HILTON IN CONVERSATION WITH MISHA GLENNY
SAMSTAG, 30.09. 2023 / 14h00,

AKADEMIE DER BILDENDEN KÜNSTE WIEN, AULA

The West is tying itself in knots about its future relationship with China. Europe is tying itself in knots about how closely it should align itself with the United States on China. China is tying itself in knots about its future relationship with Europe and the United States. In recent years, President Xi Jinping has taken China down the path of authoritarianism while extending its influence across the world. Moreover, in the wake of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, tension is mounting over China’s intentions in Taiwan. Yet, none of us can survive the impact of the climate emergency unless the US, Europe, and China collaborate in combating global warming. To discuss this most fundamental issue, IWM Rector MISHA GLENNY will be joined by ISABEL HILTON, one of Scotland’s most distinguished journalists and the founder and editor of China Dialogue.
