INSIDE THE MAGA NEW RIGHT

LAURA K. FIELD IN CONVERSATION WITH TOBIAS HABERKORN
SONNTAG, 27.09.2026 / 15h30

AKADEMIE DER BILDENDEN KÜNSTE WIEN, AULA

LAURA K. FIELD spent some years inside US conservative intellectual circles before breaking away. Her book Furious Minds: The Making of the MAGA New Right (Princeton University Press, 2025) offers a rare account of the movement's ideological architecture: from Straussian philosophy and Catholic integralism to the Hard Right's radical fringe. Field argues that liberals consistently misread their opponents, dismissing ideas that are, in fact, serious and seductive for a select but influential segment of the American public. In a conversation with journalist TOBIAS HABERKORN, Field examines the furious minds that are shaping American politics today.

LAURA K. FIELD is a writer and political theorist based in Washington, DC. In addition to her academic work, she has written for The New Republic, Politico, The Bulwark, Le Monde, The New York Times, and The Atlantic. Her latest book is Furious Minds: The Making of the MAGA New Right (Princeton University Press, 2025).
