Drawing on his extensive work on Western imperialism and the Global South, acclaimed essayist and author PANKAJ MISHRA will unpack the complex narratives, historical blind spots, and moral urgencies surrounding the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Centered on his recently published book, The World After Gaza (Penguin Press, 2025), this discussion, moderated by the acclaimed German-Austrian novelist DANIEL KEHLMANN, will explore the historical and geopolitical forces shaping the current crisis, as well as its broader implications.
PANKAJ MISHRA is a longtime contributor to The New York Review of Books, London Review of Books, and The New Yorker, and the author of several books, including From the Ruins of Empire: The Intellectuals Who Remade Asia (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2012) and Age of Anger: A History of the Present (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2017). His most recent book is The World After Gaza (Penguin Press, 2025). Mishra is a cofounder of Equator, a multimedia platform that seeks to highlight non-Western experiences and perspectives.
